The Aurora Scroll Fountain Pen uses flowing mother-of-pearl inlays to suggest ribbons of aurora light unfurling across a deep black lacquer surface. Handcrafted over a natural wood core, the pen is finished with multiple layers of Vietnamese lacquer, carefully cured and hand-polished to create depth, durability, and a rich, glossy finish.
Vietnamese lacquer, known as sơn ta or laccol, is a natural tree-resin lacquer valued for its distinctive depth, flexibility, and warm sheen. Its slower curing process allows the material to develop a rich sense of depth and character, creating a finish with an enduring beauty that distinguishes Vietnamese lacquer from other traditional lacquer techniques.
The shell inlay shifts between green, blue, violet, silver, and rose tones, while subtle warm inclusions add contrast beneath the polished finish. The result is a graceful, motion-filled design rooted in traditional lacquer craftsmanship.
